The CDC identifies Legionnaires Disease victims in terms of “Travel Related Infectious Disease” because in most cases the victim is in a new environment and usually on holiday or traveling. Many of the clients we represent are in fact holiday travelers who leave home for only a few days and stay at a hotel. Most recently, we have been contacted by so-called “snow-birds” who travel to the southern United States, like Florida for extended stays. Clients from Canada and the UK have been recorded as contracting legionnaires in what is expected to be a relaxing and enjoyable retirement stay or holiday of a lifetime as one recent British woman suffered.
