A Legionnaires’ Disease outbreak at an elder care facility in Jacksonville, FL has been reported. According to the report three residents have contracted the disease.
Legionnaires’ Disease can be particularly dangerous (even fatal) to the elderly.
While a Department of Health notice was issued, it appears that some family members have claimed that they weren’t notified until several days later.
This is a common scenario: companies should notify victims and their families of Legionnaire’s outbreaks but all too often do not provide proper notification.
