We have commented here about the risks associated with Cruise Travel, and the exposure on Cruise Ships to Legionella bacteria in water sources.
Recently Norwegian Cruise Lines acknowledged an exposure to legionella on at least four (4) of its cruises on the Norwegian Prima that departed Florida on January 22, January 29, February 5, and February 12, 2023.
While no one on their holiday wishes to be exposed to deadly bacteria, the fact that the cruise line publicly acknowledged the exposure is a good thing for transparency for the public and for the proper diagnosis and treatment of any victims of legionnaires.
The Cruise Industry provides for a wonderful experience to travelers and explorers to escapes like the Caribbean, Virgin Islands and other faraway places. To protect the cruising public the Center for Disease Control (CDC) provides public notices of those cruise ships that have been confirmed to have contaminated water and food under their Vessel Contamination Program (VCP) at their website here (https://www.cdc.gov/nceh/vsp/default.htm).
To protect yourself and be informed about your rights if you have become ill or injured on a cruise from disease causing bacteria you should contact a lawyer that handles those cases. Fill out our contact form or call 1-866-508-5373.
